Apple Gets Its First Lawsuit on Undocumented Location Data Capture and Storage

The Internet has already been abuzz about Apple and Android stealing/storing location data. Everyone is baffled and this sheer disrespect for privacy has enraged everyone. It has become the discussion of talk tech talks, endless blog posts and To add fuel to fire, Steve Jobs has replied to all the location tracking allegations with one-liners,
We don’t track anyone. The info circulating around is false.

My best guess is, he took KISS too seriously and left the situation fubared. It was just time before a lawsuit came through, though I was expecting it on Android, not Apple. Android has got far more enemies than Apple. Vikram Ajjampur and William Devito have accused Apple on this issue and the lawsuit was filed on the 22nd of this month.

Even before reply to the allegation, Steve Jobs takes care to mention that Android tracks users, not Apple. The exact conversation that took place was,
Q: Steve,

Could you please explain the necessity of the passive location-tracking tool embedded in my iPhone? It’s kind of unnerving knowing that my exact location is being recorded at all times. Maybe you could shed some light on this for me before I switch to a Droid. They don’t track me.

A: Oh yes they do. We don’t track anyone. The info circulating around is false.

Sent from my iPhone

So much for accountability, now try saying that in court Steve Jobs.
