Arizona connections in the Accenture Match Play Championships

accentureTiger Woods has captured most of the media attention (like he always does) in the early going at the World Golf Championship-Accenture Match Play Championship at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Marana. Woods won his first match, defeating Australian Brendan Jones, 3 and 2.
Aside from the tournament being played in the Grand Canyon State, there’s plenty of other Arizona connections in this tournament, which runs through Sunday.

Bobby Jones Bracket
Geoff Ogilvy (lives in Scottsdale) def. Kevin Sutherland in 19 holes. Ogilvy takes on Shingo Katayama in the 2nd round.
Rory Sabbatini (U of A) lost to Miguel A. Jimenez, 2 and 1.
Tim Clark (lives in Scottsdale) def. Retief Goosen, 3 and 2. Clark gets Woods in the 2nd round.

Ben Hogan Bracket
Phil Mickelson (ASU) def. Angel Cabrera in 19 holes. Lefty will play 2007 Master Champ Zach Johnson in the second round.
Gary Player Bracket
Matthew Goggin (lives in Scottsdale) def. 2009 FBR Open Champ Kenny Perry, 2 and 1.
Paul Casey (ASU) def. Aaron Baddeley (lives in Scottsdale), 1 up. Casey and Goggin tangle in the 2nd round.
San Snead Bracket
Pat Perez (ASU) def. #1 seed Padraig Harrington, 1 up. Perez will next play the winner of the Robert Allenby-Ross Fisher match.
