Craigslist: most successful spam server

I’m sure just about everyone has popped their Craigslist cherry for one reason or another by now. Everyone has that friend that swears by Craigslist, just like the friend who swore by Ebay. They find the coolest stuff for the cheapest prices and it’s just oh so freakin’ wonderful blah blah blah.

Maybe it’s just me but I’ve struck out on both of those sites, but Craigslist has to be the worst.

I’ve posted ads for jobs, gigs, and selling stuff and I swear there isn’t any other living person that responds to ads on that site. Or at the very least, no normal human being looking for jobs, gigs, or stuff to buy. Maybe there is, afterall there was the friend who swore by the damn thing. But it’s gotten so bad, I can’t tell the difference anymore.

Recently while looking at the rental ads it quickly became apparent that at least 9 out of 10 ads were fakes and scams. Often showing the same house but a different ad or slightly rewording the same ad. Many for foreclosed homes that are probably scams as well. I recently saw a news story about people “renting” out foreclosed homes that they didn’t even own. I wonder how many Craigslist “ads” are actually those scumbags.

It seems all I get are spam ads, webcam teases, or barely legible automated and/or ESL scammer replies. After the jump, I’ll share my wall of Craigslist shame.
