USC football recruiting: Byron Moore a Trojan after all

Athlete Byron Moore — who committed to USC, then changed his mind — has run a double-reverse and is coming to USC after all, he said on ESPNU.

Moore had three hats on a table at Narbonne High — USC, Notre Dame and Colorado. He let his youth coach remove two of the hats, tossing Colorado aside first, then ND, leaving the ‘SC hat.

Asked by ESPNU why he had a change of heart, , the 6-1, 187-pound Moore said:

“Just my relationship with the coaches — Coach (Pete) Carroll, Coach (Ken) Norton, Coach (Rocky) Seto. They’re great guys. Every time I talked to them they always laid out a plan for me, how they were going to use me for the next four years. I just felt the most comfortable with them. I just want to stay home and play in front of my family and friends.”

Moore indicated that the USC coaching staff never gave up on him, despite his decommitment, and clearly that wasn’t the case. It was also clear, to the very end, that Moore had a very difficult time making this decision.
